TURLOCK — The San Francisco State baseball team scored a season-high 20 runs to clinch the series with Stanislaus State in a 20-7 victory. Between four games, the Gators totaled 60 runs.
- SF State improves to 18-14 on the season and 14-10 in the CCAA. The Gators are currently tied for fourth. Three out of the four series remaining are against opponents below them in the standings. Stanislaus State falls to 11-17 and 6-12 in the CCAA.
- Ten different Gators recorded a hit. Stephen Esiponza went 3-for-6 with three RBIs and three runs. Daniel Murillo went 2-for-5 with both hits home runs. He now has 11 on the season and is tied with teammate Michael Cunningham for the most in the CCAA.
- Lucas Herrera and Camden Andrews each hit their first home run of the season. Herrera's was his first hit of the season.
- The Gators were aided by six errors from the Warriors. 10 of the 20 runs were earned.
- SF State drew eight walks and three hit by pitches for more than free bases. Cunningham drew a team-high three walks.
- Gator batters limited themselves to three strikeouts on the day.
Stanislaus' Arthur Navarette Jr hit a RBI single in the second for the first run of the game. The Gators responded with a five-run out-put in the third. With bases loaded, Johnson advanced everyone with a single to short. Everyone advanced a base off a wild pitch to take the lead.
Jackson Wood grounded out on the next at bat to allow a run to come through.
Stephen Espinoza hit an RBI double for another run. Derek Laferierre reached on an error, allowing Espinoza to come home to give the Gators a 5-1 lead.
Daniel Murillo hit a solo home run in the fourth. With a pair of runners in scoring position in the fifth, Espinoza reached on an error to allow another run to cross and take a 7-1 lead.
After Cunningham was intentionally walked to load the bases with one out, the Gators drew two straight walks, advanced everyone on an error and scored on another walk to take a 10-1 lead. The Warriors finally recorded an out on a ground-out by Santos but another run came aboard.
Kyle Olimpia singled to clear the bases and Murillo hit his second home run of the game to give the Gators a 16-1 lead. Camdew Andrews added to the damage with a two-run homer in the seventh. Lucas Herrara continued to pour it on with another 2-run bomb in the eighth. While Stanislaus added a couple runs in late innings, it was too little, too late.
- Tyler Ohlson (1-0) went a career-high five innings to pick up his first win. He gave up four hits, a run and a walk and struck out two.
- Ryan Garza Gave the Gators two scoreless frames in relief.
- Jude Atley, Nick Bacura and Daniel Smith all saw action in relief.
- Quinn Oliver took the loss for Stanislaus.
