SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State baseball team took both ends of the doubleheader with Cal Poly Pomona to clinch the series with one game remaining. Tied in the bottom of the ninth in game one, Justin Johnson drew a bases loaded walk to lead the Gators to a 5-4 win. The bats sizzled in game two for a 13-3 victory.
With two hits in game one, Daniel Santos reached 214 career hits for a program record.
- SF State improves to 21-14 on the season and 17-10 in the CCAA. Cal Poly Pomona falls to 13-27 and 10-21 in the CCAA.
- Santos wasn't the only Gator that was on record watch for the day. Michael Cunningham hit his CCAA leading 13th home run to tie the program record of 22 career homers.
- Despite recording 13 hits in game one, the Gators left 15 on base and could not capitalize with runners on. They were backed up defensively by three double plays.
- Gators drew 10 walks in game one and six in game two.
- Derek Laferriere hit a triple for a second straight game.
- Anthony Alvarez added his fourth home run of the season in game one.

The Gators had runners in scoring position in the first three innings, including bases loaded with no outs in the third, but squashed their chances in all three innings. Laferriere hit a lead-off triple in the fourth and came home off a ground out for the Gators' first run of the game. In the top of the sixth, the Broncos put a pair of runners on and hit a pair of RBI singles to left to take a 2-1 lead.
Kyle Olimpia hit a lead-off double in the bottom of the inning and
Daniel Murillo singled to right to tie the game.
Nicholas Allred advanced Murillo with a chopper and Cunnigham drove in a run to give the Gators the lead. Clay Porter hit a first pitch homer for the Broncos to reclaim the lead in the seventh.
In the bottom of the eighth, Cunningham drew a lead-off walk, stole second and advanced on a wild pitch to third. The Broncos had a chance to get out of the inning cleanly but the first basemen bobbled
Jackson Wood's hit to first and allowed Cunningham to score. Tied 4-4 in the ninth, Laferriere drew a four-pitch walk and advanced on a sac bunt. The Broncos intentionally walked Murillo but could not turn the double play to end the inning. Not wanting to face Cunningham, they walked him to load the bases for
Justin Johnson. Johnson started behind 0-2 but worked the count for an RBI walk walk-off.
- David Eichhorn went 6.1 innings with all his runs given up in the sixth and seventh innings. He finished the game with seven hits, four runs, two walks and three strikeouts.
- Jake Spence went 1.2 innings in relief, giving up four hits but no runs and tossed a strikeout.
- Nick Bacura (1-0) came in with no outs and a runner at second in the ninth. He struck out the first batter, induced a pop-up to short for the second out and saw the ball ricochet his side and line-out to third for the third out.
- Colt Tucker (0-2) took the loss in the ninth for Pomona.

AJ Schrader hit an RBI single and advanced to second on a throw to home to bring
Justin Johnson home in the second. Alvarez advanced Schrader with a single. He went to steal second and the throw down to center went into the outfield, allowing Schrader to come home. The Gators loaded the bases in the third and Stephen Espnoza ripped a triple to bring them all home. He came home off a wild pitch to give the Gators a 6-0 lead. The Broncos got half those runs back off a three-run homer by Brent Cota. The Gators showed off some power hitting in the fifth. Alvarez hit a two-run bomb over left field and Cunningham hit a towering grand slam to make it 12-3.
Camden Andrews hit an RBI double to extend the lead to double digits in the sixth.
- Aaron Roberts (1-0) was excellent through three innings before giving up his first hit of the game in the top of the fourth. He finished with one hit, one run and three strikeouts.
- Andrew Silva pitched in the fourth and gave up two runs.
- Alek Trukki earned his first save for three innings of work. He allowed three hits and got out of a bases loaded jam in the sixth to not allow any runs to cross.
