How It Happened

Nicholas Allred and Michael Cunningham each drew walks in the first. A wild pitch put them both in scoring position and Jackson Wood hit a two-out knock up the middle to bring both home. Garret Barto hit a first pitch home run in the bottom of the fourth to cut the Gators' lead in half. The Gators finally got something going with runners on the corners and no outs in the fifth. Nicholas Allred hit a two-out RBI single but the next two batters popped up to limit the damage. Derek Laferriere hit a lead-off bunt single in the seventh. He advanced on a sac bunt and a wild pitch before coming home off a sac fly from Daniel Murillo.

Leading 4-1 in the eighth, Eichhorn gave up a lead-off hit but the runner was erased with a double play. He gave up two more hits and a walk to load the bases but a pop-up to shortstop ended the threat. Sonoma only could put one runner on base in the ninth.
