How It Happened

Daniel Murillo and Nicholas Allred each recorded singles to start the game. They positioned themselves in scoring position thanks to a double steal and Johnson plated one with a sac fly. With a pair of runners on in the second, Nicholas cook singled to right to bring one home. A ball drilled Murillo to load the bases. A wild pitch advanced everyone 90 feet and Allred hit a sac fly to extend the lead 4-0. Jessup registered its first hits of the game in the fifth, resulting in a run. Johnson and Cunningham were both in scoring position in the bottom of the inning when Jackson Wood knocked a triple to center field to plate both of them. Schrader drilled the ball to the wall for another triple and Matt Sugden hit the ball up the middle to extend the Gator's lead to 8-1.

Johnson hit a two-out RBI knock in the sixth for an insurance run for the Gators. The Gators had some adversity in the eighth and gave up five runs with two going down as unearned. They did not allow a runner to get into scoring position in the ninth to hold on for the win.
