SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco State athletics has removed the interm tag from
Moné Peoples and made her the Head Coach of SF State women's basketball. In addition,
Daron Sims will remain on staff as an assistant coach.
"I'm incredibly honored to officially lead the San Francisco State women's basketball program," stated Peoples. "This team has shown resilience, passion, and a commitment to growth, and I'm excited to continue building something special with them. I'm grateful to the administration for their belief in me, and I look forward to pushing this program to new heights on and off the court."
Despite taking the reigns of the program days before the start of the season, Peoples' team demonstrated vast improvement from the prior season. Peoples increased the team's win total by four games and limited opponents to almost four fewer points per game than the previous season.
Prior to San Francisco State, Peoples was the assistant coach for City College of San Francisco dating back to June 2022. During her time there, City College went 45-13. Her duties included developing game strategies and practice plans, scouting and recruiting players, and monitoring academics. Peoples served as an assistant coach at nearby Lick-Wilmerding from 2016 to 2022.
Peoples also brings professional playing experience to the program. From September 2016 to January 2019, she played for Olympia Basket Trani in the top Italian basketball league. From September 2013 to June 2016, Peoples played for Fjolnir Karfa in Reykjavik,Iceland. There, she was selected as team captain and was named league MVP and Import Player of the Year.
Peoples graduated from University of West Georgia in 2013. As a member of their women's basketball team, Peoples earned All-Conference honors in addition to being named Team MVP.
