How It Happened

Neither team led by more than three points in the first quarter with the Gators holding the advantage the majority of the quarter. Mayfield scored on a lay-up to go up by two with 46 seconds left in the quarter but Stanislaus responded to tie it up 20-20 at the end of the quarter. Bradley opened the second quarter with a bucket and Mayfield stole the ball and scored to give the Gators their biggest lead of the game yet up four. The Warriors quickly responded to tie the game up and the two teams exchanged leads throughout the quarter. Athena Brombacher's jumper gave the Gators a 35-33 lead with 40 seconds left but the Gators fouled on the next two possessions. The Warriors got it done at the line to take a 37-35 lead into the locker room.

Brombacher opened the third quarter with four points all from the line for the Gators. Myhr found her shot from deep in the third and went 4-for-6. Her fourth bucket of the quarter gave the Gators the largest lead of the game up 65-53 with 1:41 to go. Stanislaus had a pair of baskets to cut the Gators lead to eight at the end of the quarter. Neither team scored in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter. The Warriors broke the ice with back-to-back baskets to make it a four-point game. The Gators outscored the Warriors 9-3 to take a 10-point lead with less than two minutes to go. Stanislaus made it an eight-point game with a little more than a minute to go but the Gators were able to score at the line to keep their lead and win the game.
