CHICO, Calif. — The San Francisco State women's basketball team was unable to overcome an early deficit in an 85-40 loss at Chico State on Thursday evening.
- SF State falls to 5-18 on the season and 3-14 in the CCAA while the third-place Wildcats improve to 17-6 overall and 13-4 in the CCAA.
- For back-to-back games, Samantha Myhr led the Gators with a team-high 17 points on five three-point baskets.
- Leilani Blecha added 10 points on three three-pointers. She is currently fourth in the CCAA with 2.2 makes per game. Deonna Mayfield added five points and had a team-high five rebounds.
- All 10 Wildcats scored, led by Kaylie Edge's career-high 25 points.
- The Wildcats outscored the Gators 46-8 in the paint. SF State relied on the three-point ball, where the Gators shot 9-of-42 (21.4 percent).
- The Gators were held to a season-low 19.7 percent from the field while the Wildcats shot 48.5 percent.
The Gators fell behind 4-0 in the opening minute and were outscored 10-2 in the first five minutes of action, and trailed 27-13 at the end of the first quarter. The Gators kept things close in the second quarter and were only outscored by a basket but headed into the half down 43-27. The Gators were held to just 13 points the rest of the way.
