SAN MARCOS, Calif. — The San Francisco State men's basketball team could not keep up with a Cal State San Marcos team that shot 58.3 percent from the field and fell 76-61.
- SF State falls to 3-22 on the season and 2-17 in CCAA action. San Marcos improves to 13-11 and 10-9 in the CCAA.
- Milandev Chatha had a team-high 12 points for the Gators. Fed Pernell and Miles Pollard each had 10 points.
- The Gators shot 38.2 percent from the field and 23.1 from deep.
- Evan McKnight had a team-high eight rebounds with four being offensive.
- The Gators had limited chances at the line and went 3-for-5.
Bricen Buciak gave the Gators a brief lead with a three to make it a 13-10 lead. The Cougars responded with a 13-3 run to swing momentum their way. The Gators would get within one of the lead by attacking the basket and going for short range shots. The Cougars pulled away again and led 38-32 at halftime. Pernell had a hand to two straight baskets to make it a one-possession game down 41-38 in the second half. Coming out of the first media time-out, the Cougars went on a 10-0 run while the Gators went 0-for-6. Down by 15, the Gators went on a 9-0 run to cut the Cougars' lead to six. But the Cougars' scored a couple of threes and the Gators' only points over the next two minutes were at the line, resulting in them falling behind.
