How It Happened

After a close start to the game, the Otters went on a 20-4 run to lead 25-10 with 30 second left in the first. Gaines provided most of the scoring for the Gators in the first and added eight points, including a three on the final possession for the Gators to cut the lead down to 25-13. Mayfield had a three-point play to cut the Otter lead down to eight a little over a minute into the second quarter. A three-point basket with 6:30 to go by the Otters gave them a double-digit lead again. The Gators did not get much going the rest of the quarter and trailed 40-23 at halftime. The Otters shot 70.0 percent from the field in the third quarter to lead by 27 and put the game out of reach.
