How It Happened

The first quarter went back and forth as the lead changed ten times. The Gators took the lead at the end of the quarter when Samantha Myhr's three point shot went in to give the Gators a 14-12 lead. Tied at 17-17, the Gators were able to create a little bit of a cushion on a 11-2 run where four different Gators scored. The Toros came back to cut the deficit to two but a three-pointer from Leilani Blecha made it a multi-possession lead for the Gators as they took a 32-27 lead into the locker room. The Gators were cold in the third quarter as Gianna Darte's three point basket was the only shot made in the first six minutes of action. The Toros took the lead with 3:30 to go. Blecha equalized with a lay-up and sparked some offense from the Gators to retake the lead.

Up 43-41 to start the fourth, the Gators quickly saw the lead disappear. The Toros led by as many as eight in the final frame. With 1:40 to go and down by five, Brombacher scored through contact and made the and-one shot at the line. She was fouled on the following possession and made both to tie the game up. The Toros had the ball with the game tied at 60-60. Anela Thomas drew a foul with 18 seconds to go and made both shots. Blecha missed her shot on the other end of the quarter with less than two seconds to go. The Gators forced a turnover on the inbound pass but could not get the final shot to go it.
