How It Happened

Harris scored a basket and the and-one shot at the line to get the Gators back within one down 10-9. Trailing 16-12, the Gators came back to tie and Miles Pollard scored on a lay-up to give the Gators their first lead since the start of the game. After a three-point basket from Pollard gave the Gators a three-point lead, the Warriors went on a 13-0 run to take a double-digit lead. Pernell stopped the bleeding with a basket and helped the Gators come back within six with four minutes left in the half. But the Gators were limited to one basket the rest of the half and trailed 42-29 at halftime.

Milandev Chatha scored his first basket of the game to get the Gators within five of the lead with nine minutes to go. Neither team scored the next three minutes with the Gators missing on second chance opportunities. The Warriors finally scored and outscored the Gators 6-2 to lead 61-52 with less than three minutes left in the game. Pernell turned the ball over on the next possession and the Warriors scored to reclaim a double-digit lead. Pollard made a couple of free throw baskets for SF State but the clock ran out of time for the Gators to make a comeback.
