How It Happened - G1

The Gators put up a four-run first inning to strike early. Marissa Jordan hit an RBI double. With a pair of runners on with two outs, Taylor Wilson popped the ball up in shallow outfield but the ball fell out of the second baseman's glove and allowed two runs to cross. Moscardi capped it off with an RBI double. Menlo's Emma Medina cut the lead in half with a first pitch RBI double in the second. In the bottom of the inning, Nelson hit a single that plopped on the right side of the left line and Cardwell got a good enough jump to score. Moscardi homered in the third to extend the lead to 6-2. Menlo got a run back off a RBI ground out in the in the fourth. Wilson hit a 2RBI double in the bottom of the inning to give the Gators a five-run lead. How It Happened - G2

With bases loaded and two outs in the top of the inning, Medina hit a 2RBI double. The third runner coming home was thrown down by Anaissa Del Rio from left to end the inning. After a great defensive play, Del Rio hit an RBI triple to tie the game. Cardwell put the ball in play and Del Rio came home. Menlo retook the lead in the third to go up 3-2. Deziree Gomez hit an RBI single up the middle to tie the game up in the sixth. After Gomez stole second and reached third on an error, the Gators had a chance to take the lead but the next two batters struck out. Through the next four innings, the Gators were able to hold Menlo from scoring but could not get much going offensively. Menlo broke through in the 11th with a sac fly. The Gators had the tying run at third in the bottom of the inning but the sacrafice squeeze was unsuccessful.
