SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The San Francisco State softball team dropped a pair of games against Cal State San Bernardino to close out the weekend. They fell 9-6 in game one and dropped game two 3-1.
- The Gators fall to 10-9 on the season and 1-3 in the CCAA. The Yotes improve to 11-9 and 3-1 in the CCAA.
- SF State left 12 on base in game four, unable to capitalize on the eight walks.
- Deziree Gomez was 4-for-6 on the day with all four hits going for doubles. She had three doubles in game one.
- The Gators only had four hits in game two and only drew two walks.
- Taylor Wilson had a team-high three runs in game one.
Taylor Wilson hit a lead-off single to right field in the second, stole second and advanced home off an RBI double from Deziree Gomez. The Yotes hit back-to-back RBI singles in the bottom of the inning to retake the lead. Cardwell drew a walk in the third, advanced on a groundout and came home off an RBI double from Wilson. Gomez hit her second RBI double of the game to take a 3-2 lead. The Yotes doubled with bases loaded in the bottom of the inning to bring in two runs. They would add three more runs to take a 7-3 after three innings. Down 9-3 in the sixth, the Gators loaded the bases with no outs but the Yotes retired the next three batters. The Gators loaded the bases again in the seventh with two outs. Ashley Rocha drew a walk, Anaissa Del Rio singled to advance the runners and an error by the shortstop advanced everyone again to make it a 9-6 game. Shaunessy Cardwell launched the ball in the outfield on the next at-bat but the ball was caught to end the comeback.
- Kharime Caratachea (4-5) went 2.1 innings before being relieved. She gave up seven runs and struck out one.
- Tori Hernandez pitched 3.1 innings and gave up two runs and four walks. She struck out four.
- Ashley Legler (7-4) picked up her second win of the weekend, giving up six runs and eight walks but struck out six. Ava Paquin came in for the save.
The Yotes got three runs off back-to-back home runs in the second. The Gators finally got something going in the fifth when they loaded the bases with one out. Del Rio grounded out to bring in one run but the Yotes retired the next batter. SF State had runners in scoring position in the next two innings but could not advance them home.
- Alexis Perez (5-3) pitched the entire game. Outside of the two home runs, Perez was able to contain the Yotes. She gave up 11 hits and one walk.
- Tara Skinner (2-0) pitched a complete game for the win.
