How It Happened - G1

Olivia Mares drew a lead-off walk in the first, stole second and was advanced to third by a Cardwell single. Marissa Jordan laid down a perfect bunt to allow Mares to score and reach first safely. Deziree Gomez hit a ground-out RBI to extend the lead to 2-0. Chico put up four runs in the bottom of the inning to take its first lead of the season. The lead was short lived as Anyssa Luttig and Malia Morreira hit back-to-back doubles and Rocha hit an RBI single to tie the game. With two outs and a runner in scoring position in the fifth, Morreira singled up the middle to give the Gators the lead. How It Happened - G2

Chico took an early 4-0 lead through the first three innings. In the top of the fourth, Jordan took a hit by pitch, was advanced to second off Kate Nelson's single to left field and scored when Gomez hit a single up the middle. The Wildcats had a pair of runners in scoring position in the bottom of the inning. A single to the pitcher allowed one to score but the Gators limited the damage to that. The Gators had runners on first and second with two outs in the fifth. Cardwell put the ball in play and errors allowed a run to score and a runner to reach third. Jordan hit and RBI single to cut the lead to 5-3. Luttig hit a ball to left center in the top of the sixth and Taylor WIlson scored from first to make it a one-run game. The Wildcats loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the inning and added an insurance run off a sac fly. The Gators could not get a runner past first in the seventh inning.
