WSOC | Late Goal From Maciel Delivers Victory for Gators

SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco State women's soccer team fell behind quickly to the Menlo College Oaks and allowed a goal within minutes of action. The Gators scored a pair of second half goals, including the golden goal in the 83rd minute, to take a 2-1 victory.

  • SF State improves to 2-5-1 on the season and 1-3-0 in the CCAA. Menlo falls to 3-5-1 and sit at 0-4-0 in conference action.
  • For a second straight game, the Gators proved to be the more aggressive team. They held a 13 to 10 advantage on shots with both teams shooting seven shots on goal.
  • The Gators recorded their first multi-goal game since their win against Cal State San Marcos on October 10, 2025.
  • Natalia Maciel scored her first career goal while Emily Gehrlein-Allen scored her first goal since last season.
  • Menlo College had an eight to four advantage on corner kicks.

 How It Happened


Menlo worked quickly and was able to capitalize off a corner kick scored two and a half minutes into the game. The Gators had a couple of opportunities to equalize in the first quarter but could not capitalize. In the 19th minute, Malia Wagatsuma had a golden opportunity for a goal but her shot hit off the top crossbar. The Gators had another opportunity with a little over 1:30 left on the clock when the keeper was out of the box but Lillia Verduzco's shot was sent straight to a defender.

Gehrlein-Allen broke through in the 58th minute, using some good footwork to evade some defenders and shoot the ball over the goalkeeper's head. In the 83rd minute, the Gators had a corner kick opportunity. The ball was sent into the goal box and Maciel was able to settle it and send in the back of the net. The Oaks had a corner kick opportunity within the final seconds of the game but the Gators were able to clear the ball out of the box.

Peyton Graham (2-5-1) held the goal down well after the early setback. She finished with six saves. Lily Roberts allowed two goals and made five saves in the loss.
