Andrew Kochevar rejoined the San Francisco State men's basketball coaching staff ahead of the 2023-24 season.  After spending the 2019-20 season as a volunteer assistant with the Gators, he rejoined the program as the top assistant.
 
Kochevar spent time as the lead assistant at the College of San Mateo during the 2021-22 season, where he was instrumental in helping the Bulldogs to a 20-9 record and a berth in the CCCAA postseason. He was responsible for academic oversight, player management, travel, film breakdown, scouting, player development, recruiting, and social media coordination. He was an integral part in the development of Sam Manu (UC Davis), Desai Lopez (San Diego St.), Pearse Uniacke (SF State), Isaiah Cabrera (Presentation), and JD Carson (Bethany).
 
Prior to coaching at San Mateo, Kochevar was an assistant at Cañada College in Redwood City. The Colts finished the 2018-19 campaign with a 22-8 mark and reached the semifinals of the CCCAA Northern California Championship Tournament.  He was involved in player development, practice scheduling, scouting, recruiting, film breakdown and on-court coaching. Before his time at Cañada, Kochevar was the head JV coach and varsity assistant at Junipero Serra HS in San Mateo. In 2012-13, he was a varsity assistant at Westmoor High School in Daly City and helped lead the Rams to a 23-5 season and PAL Tournament Championship.
 
Kochevar played at Sonoma State from 2004 to 2008. In 2005-06, alongside SF State Head Coach Vince Inglima, the Seawolves won the CCAA Championship.  He was a two-time captain and two-time All-CCAA selection. Kochevar finished his career with 1,079 points and ranks first in SSU career free throw percentage (.833).
 
Kochevar earned his degree in Sociology from Sonoma State and holds a master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia Irvine.
