ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Freshman
Felicia Terwilliger (Eureka, Calif., West Warwich (R.I.)) finished first in the high jump on Saturday to lead the San Francisco State women's track and field team at the 2009 Lobo Opener at the Albuquerque Convention Center. With her effort, Terwilliger established a new school record with a winning height of 5 feet, 5 inches, eclipsing her own mark of 5-4.25 set last month at the Husky Winter Preview in Seattle, Wash.
In addition to Terwilliger's performance, the Gators posted eight additional top-five finishes at the non-scoring indoor meet, including senior
Sheila Cleland (Union City, Calif., Redwood Christian HS, Chabot College), who placed third in the weight throw with a distance of 47-06.5. Freshman
Luisa Musika (Milpitas, Calif., Milpitas HS) finished in fourth in the event behind Cleland with a heave of 43-04.50 and also came up with a fifth-place showing in the shot put with a toss of 38-03.25.
In the running events, freshman
Kelsey Feeley (Palo Alto, Calif., Gunn HS) recorded a third-place finish in the 600 meters, crossing the tape in 1:41.77, while junior
Tyler Dalbey (Petaluma, Calif., Santa Rosa JC) took fifth in the 600 with a 42.84 clocking.
Meanwhile, a trio of Gators advanced to the finals of the 60 meters, where freshman
Alicia Chambers (Roseville, Calif., Oakmont HS) placed fourth with a time of 7.92, followed by fellow classmates
Carrie Thomas (Fremont, Calif., Milpitas HS) (5
th – 8.07) and
Brittany Johnson (Marina, Calif., Monte Vista Christian HS) (6
th – 8.18).
Rounding out the SF State contingency was freshman
Meagen Moiola (Morro Bay, Calif., Morro Bay HS), who took fifth in the high jump with a height of 5-1.0
The Gators will have two weeks off before heading north to compete in the Bronco Invitational, Jan. 30-31, in Nampa, Idaho.
