Albuquerque, NM.--- SF State throwers Sheila Cleland (Union City, Calif., Redwood Christian HS) and Luisa Musika (Milpitas, Calif., Milpitas HS) highlighted the New Mexico Invitational for the Gators this afternoon in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Cleland finished third in the weight throw with a mark of 46'1. 25” while Musika finished in fifth in the same event with a mark of 44'4.25”. Both of them finished in the top 15 in shot put as Musika finished 10th with a throw of 35'1” while Cleland had a 12th place throw of 32'8.25”
"This meet was a major step in the level of competition, with far more DI and even a sprinkling of professional athletes," said SF State Head Coach Terry Burke. "Taking this into consideration we performed as expected."
The Gators also had two top ten place finishes in the high jump with Felicia Terwilliger (Eureka, Calif., West Warwich (Rhode Island)) had a 7th place jump of 5'3.75” and Meagen Moiola (Morro Bay, Calif., Morro Bay HS) finished 9th with a jump of 5'1.75” SF State will return to the track in two weeks when the Gators travel to Seattle, Washington, to participate in the Husky Classic and Husky Open on the campus of the University of Washington.
