SAN FRANCISCO--- The SF State Gators' women's soccer team won their fourth straight game this afternoon with a 2-1 victory over the visiting Sonoma State Seawolves (6-8-2, 4-6-2 CCAA). With the win and Chico State's 1-0 loss at Cal Poly Pomona, the Gators are in second place in the CCAA North Division and three points out of first place behind Chico State with two weeks left in the regular season.

SF State (7-6-3, 5-5-2 CCAA) outplayed the Seawolves in the first half recording five shots to the visitors' one. The Gators' first attempt came in the 18
th minute by
Nicole Vanni (Manteca, California, Sierra ), but Alexis Sciacqua recorded one of her four saves on the afternoon. Four minutes later, Sciacqua stopped
Allyson Freitas (Gardnerville, Nevada, Douglas) attempt from crossing into the net. The Seawolves first attempt by Tracy Webster, which sailed high in the 25
th minute. Vanni had another attempt stopped by Sciacqua in the 39
th minute.
The Seawolves came out strong in the first two minutes of the second half as Tracy Webster's attempt was stopped by the Gators'
Annicia Jones (Sacramento, California, West Campus). Sonoma State had three more shot attempts stopped by Jones in the 61, 62, and 63
rd minutes once by Lindsay Catton and two by Megan Cunningham. One minute later,
Kara Cunningham (Rohnert Park, California, Rancho Cotate) connected off a missed shot by Vanni to give the Gators a 1-0 lead at the 64:59 mark of the game.
Sonoma State's Lindsay Catton then tied the game at 1-1, 30 seconds later as she connected on a shot from 10 feet out to put it into the net for the game-tying goal.
With less than nine minutes remaining in regulation, Vanni came up and scored her second goal of the season and first game-winner as she connected on a ball from
Zoila Marquez (Salinas, California, North Salinas) to give the Gators the 2-1 lead.
The Seawolves had two chances in the last eight minutes to tie the game, but Cunningham's shot was stopped by Jones and Macy Usher's shot sailed high.
Jones had five saves in goal for the Gators while Sciacqua had four saves in goal for Sonoma State. The 2-1 win avenged an earlier season 3-2 double overtime loss to Sonoma State by the Gators.
SF State, who is 4-0-1 in its last five games, will return to the pitch this Friday, October 23
rd for a 12:30pm conference game at Seaside, Calif., with the Cal State Monterey Bay Otters. This will be the Gators' last road game of the season.
