Lacey, Wash.--- SF State Gator freshman forward
Katie Voss (Pleasanton, California, Amador Valley) scored twice including what proved to be the game-winner, one minute into the second half on a breakaway in SF State's 3-2 win over the Saints of Saint Martin's University this afternoon in Lacey, Washington. SF State will look to improve to 2-0 this Saturday night in Seattle as the Gators take on the nation's number one ranked team, Seattle Pacific Falcons.
“Our offense played really well this afternoon, but we need to work a little more on our defense,” said SF State Head Coach
Jack Hyde. “But overall, I am happy with the win this afternoon,” added Hyde. “It will be an interesting match this Saturday evening at No. 1 Seattle Pacific.”
The Gators dominated the match recording 26 shots to Saint Martin's 10. 18 of SF State's were shots on goals while just seven were of the Saints.
Rachel Lauderdale (Mission Viejo, California, Laguna Hills) had five saves in goal for the Gators while Ashley Engel had 14 saves for Saint Martin's.
Even though, SF State dominated the first half Jill Webb scored off a free kick in the 30
th minute to give the hosts an early 1-0 lead.
Carly Bliss (San Diego, California, Ranch Bernardo) tied the match at 1-1 a little over 10 minutes later off a pass from

That is when
Katie Voss took over, she scored what proved to be the game-winner one minute into the second half as she stole the ball and dribbled to the top of the box and connected on her first goal as a Gator. She gave the Gators a 3-1 lead with 11 minutes left in the match off an assist from
Myriah Johnson (Lakewood, Washington, Clover Park).
With less than a second left, Webb connected on her second goal on a penalty kick to make the final 3-2 Gators.
SF State will return to the pitch this Saturday evening at 7pm, when the Gators travel to Seattle for a non-conference match with the No. 1 Seattle Pacific Falcons.
