Chico State Pulls Away From Gators, 59-46

Dominique Hunter Had Her 8th Double-Double of the Season
CHICO, Calif—The Chico State Wildcats used a 14-4 run early in the second half to key their 59-46 conference victory over the visiting SF State Gators at Chico State's Acker Gymnasium. Dominique Hunter (San Francisco, California, Gateway) paced the Gators with her 8th double-double of the season by scoring a game high 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. She also added four assists while Molly Collins led the Wildcats (11-4, 8-3 CCAA) with 16 points. 

"We played a great game against a quality team," said SF State Head Coach Joaquin Wallace.  "We are improving, however as a team we have to learn how to finish games."

Chico State out-rebounded the Gators 44-35 while forcing 15 turnovers by its visitors. Katie Girten added 10 points off the bench for the Wildcats and Taylor Lydon also had 10 points.

SF State forced 15 turnovers by Chico State including 11 by steals (three by Michaela Booker).

The first half saw four ties until the Wildcats went on a 9-2 run to take a 19-10 lead with 8:40 left in the half on a Courtney Harrison jumper. The Gators (1-14, 1-10 CCAA) followed that with an 11-3 run of their own and cut the lead to 22-21 with 3:29 on a Erica Greer three. The hosts took a 24-22 lead into the locker room.

Chico State outscored the Gators 21-11 in the first 11 minutes of the second half and took its largest lead of the game 45-33 and never looked back.

The Wildcats held the Gators to just 34% shooting from the field including 16% from three-point range. Chico State was held to just 39% shooting from the field too but went 8 of 10 from the charity stripe.

SF State will continue its four-game road trip tomorrow evening in Turlock for a 5:30pm tip-off with Cal State Stanislaus. The Warriors lost 83-71 to Cal State Monterey Bay in Turlock this evening.
