Late Second Half Rally Keys Warriors' 56-50 Win over SF State

Michaela Booker Had 11 Points, 2 Blocked Shots, and 2 Steals at Stanislaus for SF State
TURLOCK, Calif.--  With 6:06 left in regulation, the Cal State Stanislaus Warriors went on a 10-3 run to finish the game and key their 56-50  conference home win over the visiting SF State Gators this evening at Fitzpatrick Arena on the campus of Cal Stanislaus.  Dominique Hunter (San Francisco, California, Gateway)led the Gators with her 9th double-double by scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.  Theresa Henderson paced the Warriors (8-8, 6-6 CCAA) with a game high 17 points.

"Until we learn how to make shots, we going to continue to struggle to win games this season," said SF State Head Coach Joaquin Wallace.

The first half was evenly played as there were six ties with the Warriors building a six-point lead on a Trisha Werre jumper with 1:09 left in the first half.  The Gators' Kaylaa Davis (Moreno Valley, California, Canyon Springs HS) made two free throws with 46 seconds left in the half to send the Gators into the locker room with a 27-23 deficit.

SF State (1-15, 1-11 CCAA) went on a 17-9 run to take a 40-38 lead on a Lauren Varney jumper at the 13:06 mark of the second half.  The Gators increased that lead to 44-38 on two made free throws by Davis with a little over nine minutes to go in the game.

Cal State Stanislaus kept on chipping at the Gator lead and took the lead on a Katie Busi lay-up with 3:28 to go to give the Warriors a 49-48 lead.  The Warriors increased that lead to six (54-48) on an old-fashioned three-point play by Andreanna Marshall with just 2:40 left in regulation.

Hunter's made jumper with 2:31 ended the Gators'  scoring drought, but that was not enough as the Warriors held on for a 56-50 victory.

The Gators will return home this Friday, January 28th for a 5:30pm tip-off with Cal State San Bernardino.  SF State lost 63-56 at San Bernardino on December 30.
