ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - SF State's 4x400 relay team of Carrie Thomas, Maya Cabiness, Keenya McDaniel, and Alicia Chambers captured All-America honors on Saturday after recording a school-record time of 3:47.03 to finish in second place at the 2011 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships inside the Albuquerque Convention Center.

"The girls did what they were supposed to do," said SF State head Coach Terry Burke.  "I am ecstatic on what just happened this afternoon. They just SF State track on the map."

The Gators entered the championships as the 11th seed, but ran two seconds faster than their qualifying time to earn All-America honors. SF State finished a little over six seconds behind champion, Lincoln (MO), which posted a winning time of 3:41.01, while Johnson C. Smith  ran a 3:47.35 to wind up in third.

SF State will now concentrate on its outdoor season starting with the Hornet Invitational on Saturday, March 19, at Sacramento State University.
