LOS ANGELES and CHICO, Calif. – The San Francisco State track and field squad split its squad for two meets on Friday when it competed at UCLA's Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational and the Chico State Distance Carnival.
In Los Angeles,
Alicia Chambers climbed into fifth place on the school's outdoor performance list with a personal-best time of 56.55 seconds in the 400-meter dash.
Similarly,
Carrie Thomas captured her heat in the 200 meters and finished third overall after clocking in at 25.20.
Brionne Baucham was the Gators' other remaining competitor at the meet on Friday, placing 10
th behind Thomas with a time of 25.93.
Farther north in Chico, SF State received a series of career-fast performances from
Lindsay Enright in the 800 (14
th – 2:25.79),
Kendall Dye in the 3,000 steeplechase (6
th – 12:21.07) and
Tanya Ferreira (6
th – 18:05.47) and
Alicia Trujillo (17
th – 18:56.14) in the 5,000. With her effort, Dye moved into fourth place in school history in her event, while Ferreira's mark now ranks seventh.
Select Gators will return to action on Saturday when they wrap up competition at the RJ/JJK Invite.
