SAN FRANCISCO --- For the second week in a row, the San Francisco State wrestling team doesn't have to travel far to take on its opponents. The Gators will host California Baptist for a dual on Friday before hosting the large California Collegiate Open tournament on Saturday. SF State hopes to build off last weekend's split against the then sixth-ranked team in the nation, Grand Canyon (now #11), and Simpson.
Friday's dual against the Lancers will feature live stats found at http://s301.trackwrestling.com/tw/dualmeets/DashboardFrame.jsp?TIM=1359567691583&twSessionId=gcccvdmluexjtlp and will also have a live video feed via SF State's USTREAM account at

Gator Notes
San Francisco State, who received votes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Div. II poll this week, currently stands at 7-6 overall in dual competition and 2-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Gators dropped the dual against #11 Grand Canyon 27-16, but beat Simpson 33-12.
Vicente Aboytes (157) was the only Gator to grab a pin against Grand Canyon and was one of four SF State grapplers to post 2-0 undefeated records on the day. Also picking up two wins were
Isaiah Jimenez (165),
Isaiah Hurtado (133) and
Naveed Bagheri (141). Jimenez, who now ranks fourth in the nation at 165, extended his unbeaten streak to nine matches with his two wins off a total of 10 takedowns. Fellow ranked teammate, Bagheri, has won seven of his last eight matches, including multiple bouts where he didn't surrender a single point to his opponent.
Lancer Notes
Cal Baptist comes off a 26-7 loss to Cal State Bakersfield to now stand at 5-10 in dual meets. The Lancers dropped the first five matches in the dual to put themselves in a pretty big hole as Zach Merrill took to the mat. Merrill, CBU's heavyweight, grabbed a 9-0 major decision win, but was only one of two Lancers to win on the day. Paul Miller at 149 also was victorious with a 7-5 decision. The Lancers' strongest wrestlers--Tyler Hall (125), Dakota Thayer (133), Bradford Gerl (141)--came up empty but will look to rebound this week against the Gators.
