@SFState_WBB Begins 2014-15 Campaign This Week

San Francisco – The SF State women's basketball season officially gets under way this week, ushering in the Dennis Cox era.  The Gators will host Minnesota State –Moorhead on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. before traveling to Belmont, Calif., to take on Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

The Gators went 1-2 in their exhibition games, wrapping up the schedule of games with an 87-41 loss on the road at Santa Clara.  The Gators shot just 28.0 percent from the floor that game going 14-for-50.  In the first half of that contest SF State dug themselves in a deep hole against the Division I foe, falling behind 47-8 at halftime. 

SF State shot 32.8 percent from the floor in their three exhibition games.  The Gators averaged 60 points a game.  Three players averaged double figures for the Gators leading the game was junior Jasmine Flanagan who boasts 15.7 points per game average, in the exhibition opener against Pacific she went off for a game-high 29 points.   Also scoring in double figures for the Gators was senior Michelle Sutton (11.7 ppg) and junior Brittaney Allison (10.0 ppg.)

Minnesota State –Moorhead enters Thursday's game with a 0-2 record after losing home games to UW Parkside 70-61, and Northern Michigan 49-45.  The Dragons were a pre-season pick to finish seventh in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.  On the year the Dragons are shooting 32.4 going 33-for-102 from the floor and are 10-for-34 (29.4) from three point range.  Junior guard Meghan Roehrich who averages 12 ppg and 25.5 minutes played per contest.

On Saturday the Gators will travel to the South Bay to take on Notre Dame de Namur, who enters this weekend's games with a 0-2 record after falling to Cal State Monterey Bay 78-68 and Simon Frazier 93-64 last weekend.  The Argonauts were picked to finish 10th in the PacWest in the preseason coaches' poll.  On Saturday's loss at the hands of the Otters, NDNU shot 39.6 percent from the floor going 21-for-53.  Leading the team in points was senior guard Nanea Woods who scored 13 points in 29 minutes, shooting 5-for-7.
