SAN FRANCISCO – The SF State Gators will look to continue their winning ways this Friday, December 12 when they host Sonoma State in a CCAA game at the SF State Main Gym at the Don Nasser Family Plaza. This Friday's game is also "Purple Out" where the first 500 SF State students will receive t-shirts and Pizza. The game will be broadcast live on Comcast Hometown Network.
The Gators opened up their 2014-15 conference season with a pair of home wins over Humboldt State (67-58) and Cal State San Bernardino (68-53) this past weekend. With the wins, SF State is in a four-way tie for first place with Sonoma State, Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus. The Gators, under the direction of head coach
Paul Trevor, are 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the CCAA.
They are averaging 60.5 points and 29 rebounds per game while shooting 45% from the field and averaging 8.8 steals per game. SF State's opponents are averaging 61.7 points and 28.2 rebounds per game while shooting just 38% from three-point land. SF State is forcing 16.2 turnovers per game.
Udun Osakue leads the team with his 11.7 scoring and 4.8 rebounding average while
Bren Haley has a team high 24 assists. Haley is also shooting a team best 92% from the line.
Andre Jones leads the team with his 12 steals and 44% shooting from three's.
AJ Kahlon has a team high 6 blocked shots while shooting a team leading 65% from the field.
Sonoma State is 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the CCAA after defeating Cal State San Bernardino (75-58) and Humboldt State (80-70) this past weekend. James Davis leads the Seawolves with his 20.7 scoring average, 62% shooting from the field, 62% shooting from three's and 89% shooting from the line. David Ahern has a team high 14 assists and JJ Mina and Mike Harris lead Sonoma State with their 5.8 rebounding averages.
