San Francisco – The SF State women's volleyball team will finally get to test out the new gym floor as the Gators host No. 7 Cal State San Bernardino on Friday and Humboldt State on Saturday. Both contests are slated for a 7:00 p.m. start time.
The Gators enter this weekend's matches with a 3-4 overall record and are 1-1 in the CCAA. Last weekend the Gators swept Cal State Dominguez Hills before falling to Cal State L.A. in four sets on the road. The Gators have recorded 324 kills on the year, averaging 13.0 kills per set which ranks third in the CCAA. As a team, SF State is hitting .226 which is also third in the conference.
Five players have recorded 50 or more kills on the year,
Jaclyn Clark and
Jazmine Williams lead the team with 63 kills each. Setter
Jacquie Brice is third in the CCAA averaging 9.96 assists per set, her 249 assists gives her 1,394 for her career which is eighth all-time.
Jessica Nicerio is second in the conference in total digs with 111, and third in the CCAA in digs per set, averaging 4.4. For her career, she ranks fifth all-time with 1,019 digs.
Cal State San Bernardino enters this weekend ranked No. 7 in the AVCA Coaches Top-25 poll. They are 5-1 and have won four-straight. Last weekend they tallied road victories over CCAA opponents Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay. The Coyotes average 13.2 kills per set which is second in the conference and are hitting .256 as a team which leads the CCAA. Leading the team with 93 kills is junior outside hitter Alexandra Torline. Sophomore setter Hannah Liserra runs the attack averaging 10.42 assists per set.
Humboldt State enters this weekend's contests with an overall record of 4-2 including a 1-1 record in the CCAA. Last weekend, the Jacks defeated Cal State Monterey Bay in straight-sets before falling to Cal State East Bay in four sets on the road. As a team, Humboldt State averages 12.8 kills per set and is hitting .218. Senior outside hitter Ashley Owen leads the squad with 81 kills on the year. Setter Katherine Rifilato has 152 on the season and averages 6.33 assists per set.
