SAN FRANCISCO – Fresh off a 2-1 week that included an impressive win in four over host UCSD, the SF State volleyball team returns home for a two-game set featuring Humboldt State on Friday and rival No. 24 Sonoma State on Saturday.

The Gators are riding a hot streak after going 2-1 last week, and winning four of their last five dating back to October 2.  SF State opened up last week with a straight-sets victory over Cal State East Bay before splitting back-to-back road games, dropping a match against No. 23 Cal State San Bernardino before defeating UC San Diego in four on Saturday.

As a team, the Gators are averaging 12.5 kills per set and are hitting .173.  However, since the calendar changed to October, the Gators are averaging 13.9 kills per set and hitting .224.  Their opponents are averaging 12.6 kills per set and hitting .196.

Leading the team in kills is senior outside hitter Jaclyn Clark, who has 210 on the year.  But hot on Clark's heels is junior outside hitter Taylor Brownlee with 184.  Brownlee was named the Female Gator of the Week for her performance last week, which includes her first career double-double in the win over UC San Diego.  That match she posted a match-high 17 kills while picking up a career-best 11 digs.  She has recorded 10 or more digs in nine-straight matches dating back to Sep. 19.

Defensively, the Gators shined in the win over the Tritons.  The Gators held the Tritons to a season-low .091 attack percentage in the win.  SF State recorded 100 digs in the match with six players corralling 10 or more digs, led by career-leader Jessica Nicerio who had 29, a season-high.  At the net the, the Gators threw up a wall, recording a season-high 14 total blocks.

Setter Catherine Feathers has been running the attack for SF State, she averages 8.18 assists per set and has 450 assists on the year.  Since Sept. 25 however, she has averaged 11.3 assists per set and has recorded 295 total assists.

Humboldt State enters Friday's contest with a 6-8 overall record and are 4-6 in the CCAA which is tied for ninth.  They have lost four of their last five, including three-straight with losses coming at the hands of Cal State San Bernardino and back-to-back losses to Sonoma State.

As a team, Humboldt State is averaging 12.57 kills per set and hitting .176, their opponents are averaging 12.14 kills per set, hitting .185.  Leading the team in kills is Symone Hayden, who has 187 kills on the year, averaging 3.34 kills per set.  All-time, the Gators are 44-16 against the Jacks, last year the Gators went 0-2 against Humboldt State.

No. 24 Sonoma State enters this week with a 12-3 mark, which includes a 8-1 record in the CCAA.  The Seawolves, who cracked the latest AVCA Coaches' Poll this week, have won eight-straight dating back to Sept. 19.

As a team, the Seawolves average 13.86 kills per set, and are hitting .253 as a team.  Their opponents average 11.98 kills per set and are hitting .189.  Leading the team in kills is Caylie Seitz who has 224 kills on the year, averaging 4.00 kills per set.

All-time the Gators are 27-42 against Sonoma State.  Last year, the two teams split the season-series with the Gators winning the finale in a thrilling five-set win on Oct. 11, in that match the Gators rallied back after being down 0-2 after the intermission.
