SAN FRANCISCO--- The SF State Gator women's soccer team will host Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona in their final two home matches of the regular season this weekend. Prior to their match this Sunday, October 25 at 11:30am, the Gators will recognize their four seniors in
Karin Nordin,
Molly Schuster,
Kaylyn Toyama and
Danielle Vidal in a brief ceremony.
The Gators are coming off a 0-2 weekend at home with a 1-0 loss in double overtime to Cal State L.A. this past Friday and a 2-1 loss to Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday. SF State is now 6-6-3 overall and 2-4-3 in the CCAA, which places the Gators in a tie for 10
th place with Cal State East Bay. The Gators are still alive for the six-team CCAA Soccer Championships which begin on Nov. 3 with the First Round at the site of the higher seeds.
SF State is four points out of the sixth and final spot, which is currently held by Cal Poly Pomona. Sonoma State, Chico State, Cal State L.A., UC San Diego, Stanislaus State and Cal Poly Pomona hold the top six spots. The number one and two seed will receive first round byes and advance to the Semi-Finals on Nov. 6 at Cal Poly Pomona. The championship match is set for Nov. 8 also at Cal Poly Pomona.
In their heart-breaking 1-0 double overtime loss to Cal State L.A. this past Friday, the Gators lost in the 104
th minute as the Golden Eagles connected on a free kick for the golden goal. Nordin had five saves in goal for SF State while the Gators outshot their opponent 14-12 including 11-8 in the final 65 minutes.
SF State then lost 2-1 to Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday as the Toros scored two unanswered goals in the second half in the 60
th minute.
Kimber Lohman scored the Gators' goal in the 35
th minute off a free kick and pass from
Taylor Halstenson and
Kelsey Wetzstein. Nordin had two saves in goal for the Gators.
For the season, the Gators are averaging 1.39 goals a game while giving up 1.07 goals a game. Nordin has posted a 1.11 goals against average with 42 saves and one shutout.
Arianna Wesley has posted a 0.77 goals against average in four matches with five saves.

Kimber Lohman,
Kayleen Belda and
Isabella Nazario each have a team high three goals with Vidal leading the team with four assists. Fox and Vidal are tied for the team lead with 8 points. In the recent CCAA statistics that were released yesterday, Nordin is 7
th in wins and 9
th in saves.
The Gators will first face Cal State San Bernardino this Friday afternoon at 12:30pm at Cox Stadium. The Coyotes come into Friday's match with a 4-7-3 overall record and a 3-4-1 record in the CCAA, which places them in 9
th place. Denae Verdine leads the team with her five assists and 15 points while Melanie Aguayo has a team high 6 goals. Emily Whyte has posted a 1.45 goals against average with 53 saves and two shutouts in 12 matches while Mega Vega has a 1.10 goals against average with 17 saves and one shutout.
Then on Sunday at 11:30am, the Gators will host Cal Poly Pomona. Coming into this weekend, the Broncos are 7-4-2 overall and 4-3-1 in the CCAA. The Broncos are in sixth place in the CCAA going into their Friday match at Cal State Monterey Bay. They are led by Daisy Duran's four goals and 8 points while Sydney Yates has a team leading three assists. Ricki Ives has posted a 1.11 goals against average with three shutouts and 35 saves.
After this weekend's matches, the Gators will end their regular season on Saturday, Oct. 31 with a 2pm starting match at Chico State.
