@SFState_WVB Returns Home Set To Host Broncos And Otters

SAN FRANCISCO – The SF State women's volleyball team returns home this weekend and will begin a two-match home stand against Cal Poly Pomona on Friday and Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday.  Both matches are slated for a 7:00 p.m. first serve and will feature live stats.
 
The Gators (11-12/9-7 CCAA) are currently tied for fifth in the CCAA with the Broncos.  The top-eight teams from the conference will advance to the CCAA Tournament Nov. 19-21 at the Rimac Arena in La Jolla, Calif.  SF State is currently one game up seventh place Chico State and two games ahead of eight place Stanislaus State in the standings.
 
Last week, the Gators split the two-game road trip, falling to No. 22 Sonoma State in straight-sets on Friday before taking down Humboldt State in a thrilling five-set defensive match in Arcata, Calif.
 
As a team, SF State currently ranks 12th in the nation in attack per set, averaging 39.17 attack attempts per game.  They also rank in the top-50 out of 300 teams in digs per set, averaging 17.5 digs per frame.  On the attack, the Gators are ninth in the CCAA, averaging 12.45 kills per set and are hitting .172 which is 12th.  Those numbers go up in conference play, where they are seventh in both kills per set (12.84) and attack percentage (.182).
 
Senior outside hitter Jaclyn Clark leads the team with 292 kills, last weekend she eclipsed the 1,000 career kill plateau and became just the third player in SF State history to record 1,000 career kills and digs.  She is currently eight in the CCAA averaging 3.48 kills per set.
 
Sophomore setter Catherine Feathers was named the SF State Female Gator of the Week for her performance last weekend.  Feathers is currently sixth in the CCAA averaging 8.96 assists per set, however, in CCAA action she is even better, averaging 10.47 assists per set which is fourth in the league.  Against Humboldt State, Feathers set career-highs in assists (59) and digs (25) for her seventh double-double of the season.
 
Cal Poly Pomona enters Friday's contest with a 13-11overall record and is tied for fifth with the Gators in the CCAA with a 9-7 mark.  The Broncos have lost four of their last six matches including two-straight on the road last week, falling to UC San Diego and Cal State San Bernardino in four. 
 
The Broncos are averaging 13.0 kills per set and hitting .179 as a team.  Their opponents are averaging 12.4 kills per set and hitting .193.  Leading the team in kills is Deanna Blaine who has 291 kills on the year, averaging 3.20 kills per set.
 
Cal State Monterey Bay is having a down year in 2015.  The Otters are 5-16 overall and 4-12 in the CCAA.  Over their last-10 matches, CSUMB is 1-9, last week they went 0-2 with a four set loss at Cal State San Bernardino followed by a straight-sets loss at UC San Diego.
 
As a team, CSUMB is averaging 12.01 kills per set and hitting .175, their opponents are averaging 13.55 kills per set and are hitting .211.  Leading the team in kills is Jessica Malcolm who has 276 kills on the year and is averaging 3.54 kills per set.
