SAN FRANCISCO– The SF State Gators will finish off their exhibition season and open up their regular season this weekend.  The Gators will first across the Bay Bridge to Moraga this Friday, November 13 for their final exhibition game at Saint Mary's College. Tip-off is scheduled for 8pm at McKeon Pavilion.  They will then up their 2015-16 regular season the next evening hosting Pacific Union College at The Swamp at Don Nasser Family Plaza with a 7pm scheduled tip-off.

The Gators, under the guidance of head coach Paul Trevor, are coming off two road exhibition games against Division I foes University of San Francisco and UC Santa Barbara.

In their 87-76 loss at crosstown opponent, University of San Francisco, last Thursday evening, Treaven Duffy paced the Gators with 17 points off the bench in 24 minutes of action.  SF State had 16 assists on 25 made baskets led by Duffy and Coley Apsay each with three.

This contest saw 15 ties and 11 changes up until the final five minutes of the game. Each team connected on 25 field goals including 11 three's while the Dons were 26 for 45 from the charity stripe and SF State was 15 for 22.  Besides Duffy's 17 points, two Gators chipped in 9 points in Nick Calcaterra and Derrick Brown

Then last night SF State lost to Big West Conference member, UC Santa Barbara, 66-45 with Floyd Wormley leading the way with 12 points, 6 rebounds and four assists.  Warren Jackson chipped in 8 points for the Gators while Brantley Bynum scored 7 points and Calcaterra added 6 points.

The Gators twice cut the Gaucho lead to just one point in the first half and were within 10 points with 7 minutes left in regulation until the host outscored SF State 19-6 in the final minutes to take the 66-45 victory.
In the two exhibition games, Wormley averaged 10 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 47% from the field.  Duffy is averaging 9.5 points while Calcaterra and Bynum are averaging 7.5 points and 7.0 points per game respectively.  Bynum leads the team with his 50% shooting from the field.

First up for the Gators this weekend will be the Saint Mary's College Gaels out of the West Coast Conference.  This will be SF State's final exhibition game of the 2015-16 regular season and the Gaels' regular season home opener.  The Gaels are coming off a 21-10 regular season including a 13-5 record in the West Coast Conference last year.

Saint Mary's returns four players from last year's team led by Emmett Naar who averaged 6.3 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.  Naar also had 118 assists in the 30 games he played last season while averaging 28.1 minutes per game.  Dane Pineau shot 55.6% from the field in 31 games while Calvin Hermanson and Jack Landale averaged 2.5 and 2.1 points per game respectively. This will be a homecoming for current Gator, Treaven Duffy, as the junior transfer played in 21 games last season for the Gaels.

SF State last played the Gaels on November 27, 2011, in the First Round of the Shamrock Office Solutions Classic.  Saint Mary's defeated the Gators 86-52.  During that same tournament, SF State defeated Jacksonville State 71-68 in the second round of the classic.

This Saturday evening at 7pm, the Gators will open up their 2015-16 regular season hosting the Pacific Union College Pioneers.  The Pioneers are from Angwin, Calif., and are affiliated with the NAIA and a member of the California Pacific Conference.  They are 1-1 after losing 112-59 at San Jose State this past Saturday evening.  Jarron Crump paced the Pioneers with 17 points and was one of three players to score in double digits.

Pacific Union opened up its season on November 3 with a 73-72 win over West Coast Baptist at home as Crump and Mike Hill each had 22 points to lead the way for the Pioneers.  They held West Coast Baptist to just 43% shooting from the field including 21% from three-point land. The Gators last played the Pioneers on December 8, 2007, a game SF State won 78-58.

Both games this weekend will have live stats and a live video feed.  After this weekend's regular season home opener, SF State Department of Athletics will charge viewers for access to the live video feed.  For dates of single games, the fee will be $4.00 and the fee for doubleheaders will be $8.00.

After this weekend, the Gators will return to the court in Rohnert Park as they participate in the Ron Logsdon Classic of Sonoma State University.  They will face Academy of Art on Friday, November 20 and Dixie State on Saturday, November 21, both team are from the Pac West Conference.  Tip off for both nights is scheduled for 5:30pm PST at The Wolves' Den.

They will return home on Tuesday, November 24 for a 7pm scheduled tip-off with the Holy Names University Hawks at The Swamp at Don Nasser Family Plaza.
