SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The San Francisco State women's volleyball team took on the newcomer in the CCAA for the third time and was given a rude greeting, as Cal State San Marcos defeated the Gators for the first time in the young series, 3-0 (19-25, 21-25, 20-25) at the brand new Sports Center on Saturday night.
San Francisco State (1-14/0-7 CCAA) hit .025 on the evening, recording 28 kills, with 25 errors on 120 attempts. Cal State San Marcos (11-5/4-3 CCAA) countered, hitting just .140, recording 40 kills on 121 attempts with 23 errors.
The Gators were led by
Haley Halpert who had a match-high 11 kills.
Lauren Williams had five kills and four other Gators recorded three kills.
Linda Aerne ran the Gator attack, recording 23 assists with four digs.
Cal State San Marcos had two players recording 10 or more kills and was led by Lauren Lee who had 11 kills.
SF State returns to action on Tuesday when they host Stanislaus State at 7:00 p.m. at the Main Gym at the Don Nasser Family Plaza.
