MONMOUTH, Ore.— The San Francisco State Gators improved to 4-0 with an 86-62 non-conference win over the Concordia-Portland Cavaliers this evening in the Second Round of the WOU/Doubletree by Hilton D2 Shootout. The Gators held the Cavaliers to just 38% shooting from the field including 21% shooting from three-point land.
Three Gators scored in double digits led by
Warren Jackson's game high 19 points.
Coley Apsay chipped in 18 points for the Gators while
AJ Kahlon recorded his third double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. San Francisco State shot 48% connecting on 28 of its 58 shots from the field with Kahlon going a perfect six-for-six.
San Francisco State built a 21-10 lead mid-way through the first half. Concordia-Portland (1-3) cut the Gator lead to 23-14, but San Francisco State outscored the Cavaliers 28-13 to take a commanding 51-27 lead in the half. A three by Apsay early in the second half increased the Gator lead to 56-30 as they never looked back and cruised to an 86-62 non-conference win.
The Gators will return to the court in Belmont, Calif., on Nov. 25-26 as they participate in the NDNU Thanksgiving Classic. San Francisco State will face PacWest foes Holy Names and Notre Dame de Namur in the Classic.
GAME NOTES
GATORS: The Gators are now 4-0 on the season with four West Region non-conference wins. They are 2-0 against teams from the PacWest and 2-0 against teams from the GNAC. San Francisco State is averaging 90 points per game while giving up 72.8 points per game. The Gators are also out-rebounding their opponents 42.3 to 37.5.

18-2: The Gators are now 18-2 in the last two years when they score over 70 points in game after going 14-2 last season.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE: AJ Kahlon has three double-doubles this season as he recorded his second consecutive double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Last night in the Gators' 99-93 triple overtime win over Western Oregon, Kahlon had 28 points and 23 rebounds. This evening, he also went six-for-six from the field. For the weekend, he went 15-for-18 while averaging 16.5 rebounds and 20.5 points in the Gators' two wins.
DEFENSE WINS GAMES: The Gators held the Cavaliers to just 38% shooting from the field including 21% from three-point land. They also forced 21 turnovers including 15 by steals with four coming from
Coley Apsay, three from
Nick Calcaterra and two from
Warren Jackson.
BLOCK THAT SHOT: AJ Kahlon had three of the Gators' six blocked shots this evening with the others coming from
Ryne Williams,
Derrick Brown and
Warren Jackson.
