SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco State women's volleyball wraps up its 2016 campaign on the road this weekend, the Gators will battle Cal Poly Pomona on Friday before taking on Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday. Both matches are slated for a 7:00 p.m. first serve.
SF State enters the final week of play with a 1-23 overall record and are 0-16 in CCAA action. On the road this year the Gators are 0-11. As a team, SF State is hitting .120 while averaging 9.81 kills per set. Their opponents are hitting .266 while averaging 14.11 kills per set.
Last weekend the Gators went 0-2 with straight-set losses at the hands of rival Sonoma State (10-25, 14-25, 16-25) and at home against Humboldt State (22-25, 21-25, 15-25) on a spirited senior night. SF State hit .070 for the weekend, averaging 7.83 kills per set.
Danielle Ryan led the Gators with 14 total kills, averaging 2.33 kills per set while hitting .244. She also grabbed 13 digs in an all-around excellent week.

Over the last five matches
Abby Griffith has been a force. The freshman middle has averaged 1.33 kills per set, hitting .304 while averaging 0.93 blocks per set. During that stretch Griffith also has a 43 percent kill percentage.
Fantastic Freshman
The Gators have employed five freshmen this season who have seen lots of action. Griffith leads that group with 95 total kills and also had 57 total blocks. Ryan is right behind her, recording 94 kills, averaging 1.21 kills per set with 2.35 digs per set. Fellow outside hitter,
Lexi Chabiniak has 41 kills, averaging 1.21 kills per set, over the last eight matches she 34 kills.
Emily Johns leads the team with 222 digs, averaging 3.76 digs per set, while
Jessica Stratton has averaged 2.40 digs per set in 55 sets played.

About The Broncos
Cal Poly Pomona enters Friday's match with an overall record of 7-17, in the CCAA they are 3-12 and currently in the bottom of the CCAA South Division rankings. Last weekend, they went 2-0 on the road, with four-set wins over Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay. Previous to that they had lost nine of their last 10. At Kellogg Arena they are 1-6. As a team, the Broncos are hitting .147 which is 11
th in the CCAA, while averaging 12.56 kills per set which is 10
th in the conference. Their opponents are hitting .192 while averaging 13.32 kills per set.
Who To Watch
The Broncos boast three players with over 200 kills on the year. Leading the team is junior opposite Alexandra Gresham. Gresham has 256 kills on the year, averaging 2.91 kills per set. She also has 79 total blocks which leads the team.
Series Versus The Broncos
All-time the Gators are 10-35 against the Broncos in a series that dates back to 1984. The first time these two teams faced each other CPP defeated SF State in four sets. Last year, the Gators and Broncos met three times, the last time coming in the opening round of the CCAA Championship Tournament where the Broncos won in four (21-25, 25-21, 25-27, 18-25) on Nov. 19, 2015.
About The Coyotes
Cal State San Bernardino enters this week ranked No. 14 in the latest AVCA Coaches' Top-25 Poll. They are 19-4 overall, and are 13-2 in the CCAA and leading the CCAA Southern Division. Over their last 10 matches they are a perfect 10-0 and at Coussoulis Arena they are 6-0 this year. As a team, they are averaging 13.07 kill per set, while hitting .242. Their opponents are averaging 12.58 kills per set and hitting .165.
Who To Watch
CSUSB currently has two players ranked in the top-10 in attack percentage. However, junior outside hitter Lauren Nicholson is the player to watch. Nicholson leads the team with 364 kills, averaging 4.28 kills per set. She has tallied double-digit kills in all but two matches this year, and recorded a season-high 28 kills early in the year against Grand Valley State.
Series Versus The Coyotes
All-time the Gators are 3-31 against Cal State Monterey Bay. The series dates back to the 1991 season when SF State opened the series with a 3-0 win over the Coyotes on Sept. 20. The last time these two teams faced each other, the Coyotes defeated the Gators in straight-sets at home on Oct. 9, 2015.
