AJ Kahlon's Sixth Double-Double Leads No. 25 @SFState_MBB To Romp of Redhawks

SAN FRANCISCO–  The No. 25 San Francisco State Gators' men's basketball team won their tenth game in a row as they cruised past the visiting Simpson University Redhawks 102-59 this evening  in a non-conference affair at The Swamp at The Don Nasser Family Plaza.  This is the first time in the history of Gator men's basketball that they have started 10-0.

AJ Kahlon was one of six Gators to score in double digits as he recorded his sixth double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Also recording a double-double was junior point guard, Wraren Jackson, who had 10 points and dished out 10 assists.  Israel Hakim and Ryne Williams each had a career high 13 points off the bench for the victors.  Coley Apsay chipped in 12 points and Nick Calcaterra added 10 points for the hosts.

The Gators held Simpson (1-13) to just 39% shooting from the field including 35% from three-point territory.  San Francisco State shot 57% from the field including 52% from three-point land.  The Gators also dished out a school record 27 assists on 40 made baskets led by Jackson's 10. San Francisco State jumped out to a 34-14 lead mid-way through the first half and never looked back as the Gators cruised to the 102-59 victory. 

They will return to the court on Sunday, December 18 when the Gators host Humboldt State in a CCAA match-up at The Swamp at The Don Nasser Family Plaza.  Tip-off is set for 4pm.

GAME NOTES:
GATORS:  San Francisco State improved to 10-0 this evening with its 102-59 win over the Redhawks.  The Gators are also 3-0 in the CCAA after their 65-63 win at Sonoma State last night in Kentiield, Calif.
 
COACHES' QUOTES; "Fantastic team effort by our guys this evening," said SFSU head coach Paul Trevor.  "I am very proud of this group of young men on how well they played together this evening."  "We shared the ball well also with 27 assists."
 
ALL ELEVEN:  All eleven Gators scored tonight led by AJ Kahlon's 18 points.  Five other players scored in double digits in Ryne Williams (13), Israel Hakim (13), Coley Apsay (12), Nick Calcaterra (11) and Warren Jackson (10). 
 
DOUBLE-DOUBLE:  Two Gators recorded double-doubles this evening in AJ Kahlon and Warren Jackson.  Kahlon recorded his sixth double-double while Jackson recorded his first ever as a Gator. 
 
27 ASSISTS:  Nine of the 11 Gators recorded assists this evening led by Warren Jackson's 10 assists.  Four other Gators' had three assists each in Coley Apsay, Nick Calcaterra, Josh Douglas and Israel HakimJase Wickliffe had two while Derrick Brown, AJ Kahlon and Chiefy Ugbaja each had one.    
 
BLOCK THAT SHOT:  The Gators had six blocked shots this evening led by Ryne Williams' career high three.  AJ Kahlon also had three which gives him 52 for his career, which ties him for fourth with Brandon Tatum on the Gators' all-time career blocked shot list.    
 
UP NEXT:  The Gators will return home on Sunday, December 18 at 4pm, when they host Humboldt State in a CCAA match-up at The Swamp at The Don Nasser Family Plaza.  This will be the second to last game of the 2016 calendar year for the Gators as they will face Chico State in Chico on December 31 at 3:30pm.
