Second Half Serves As The Difference As No. 16/21 @SFState_MBB Improves to 11-0

SAN FRANCISCO–  The No. 16/21-ranked San Francisco State Gators' improved to 11-0 overall and 4-0 in the CCAA this afternoon with an 83-73 win over the visiting Humboldt State Lumberjacks at The Swamp at The Don Nasser Family Plaza.  The Gators used an 18-4 run mid-way through the second half to key their 11th straight win to head into the break undefeated.

Four Gators scored in double digits led by the guard duo of Coley Apsay and Warren Jackson each with 16 points.  Jackson added five assists and six rebounds while Apsay also had five assists and six rebounds to go along with his two steals.  Nick Calcaterra chipped in 14 points for the victors while Derrick Brown added 11 points.  The Gators shot 51% from the field including 48% from three-point territory. 

Humboldt State (7-4, 2-3 CCAA) also had four players in double figures led by Malik Morgan and Tyras Rattler Jr. each with 13 points.  The Gators held the 'Jacks to 41% shooting from the field including 37% from three-point territory.  SFSU also out-rebounded its guests 41-31 led by AJ Kahlon with eight rebounds.

The Gators will return to the court after the Holiday as they travel to Chico, Calif., for a New Year's Eve showdown with Chico State.  Tip-off is set for 3:30pm at Art Acker Gym on the campus of Chico State. 

GAME NOTES
GATORS:  San Francisco State improves to 11-0 overall and 4-0 in the CCAA with their 83-73 win over Humboldt State Lumberjacks.  The Gators are one of 12 teams that are undefeated.   

COACHES' QUOTES: "This team continues impress me with the ability to play together and share the basketball," said SFSU head coach Paul Trevor.  "This is a well-deserved Holiday Break as we are going to recharge our batteries and hopefully continue this run," added Trevor.  "Our three guards (Coley Apsay  Nick Calcaterra and Warren Jackson) dominated the game with a combined 46 points, 12 assists and 15 rebounds."

52-24:  The Gators are a perfect 5-0 at home this season which improves their record to 52-24 at The Swamp at The Don Nasser Family Plaza during Coach Paul Trevor's time on the sidelines. 

25-3: San Francisco State is 24-3 since the beginning of the 2015-16 in games they have scored 70 points or more including going 9-0 this season. 

1/12:  San Francisco State is one of twelve teams in the nation in NCAA Division II that are still undefeated. 

48/12/15:  The guard trio of Coley Apsay, Nick Calcaterra and Warren Jackson combined for 48 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists.

16 ASSISTS:  The Gators had 16 assists on 31 field goals this afternoon as Coley Apsay and Warren Jackson each had five assists.  Nick Calcaterra and Chiefy Ugbaja also had two each.

ONLY ONE IN FIFTH:  With his three blocked shots this afternoon, AJ Kahlon has 55 blocked shots which places him fifth on the Gators' all-time list.

UP NEXT:  The Gators will return to the court on December 31 when they travel to Chico for a 3:30pm CCAA game with Chico State.
