SAN FRANCISCO-- After a 3-0 week, the San Francisco State Gators will look to extend their winning streak to 6 and 7 as they continue their season five-match road trip this weekend in Southern California.  The Gators will travel to Pomona this Friday, September 23 for a 7pm starting match at Cal Poly Pomona.  They will then face Cal State San Bernardino on Sunday, September 25 at 2pm in San Bernardino.

San Francisco State is coming a 3-0 week including going 2-0 in its conference openers as the Gators improve to 5-1-1 overall and 2-0 in the CCAA.  The Gators started the week with a 1-0 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Wednesday afternoon as Kelsey Wetzstein scored the game-winning goal on a free kick in the 9th minute.  Christina Holguin recorded 6 saves in goal for the Gators.

The Gators came back on Friday afternoon with an exciting 2-1 win over then No. 13 Chico State.  Sierra Sagasta scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 68th minute off a ball from Natasha Gosiaco and Kimber Lohman.  San Francisco State was down 1-0 when Lohman tied the match in the 22nd minute off a ball from Jada Williams.  San Francisco State finished the week with a 1-0 shutout of the hosts, Holy Names Hawks, on Sunday afternoon in Oakland.  Holguin had three saves en route to her fourth shutout of the season.  Gosiaco scored the game-winner just three minutes into the second half on a ball from Autumn Fox.

San Francisco State, under the direction of head coach Tracy Hamm, is one of four schools that started the conference season 2-0.  Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State L.A. and Sonoma State also started its conference season 2-0.  Their current five-match winning streak is the longest winning streak at San Francisco State since 2002 when the Gators also won five in a row.  The Gators' longest winning streak was six during the 2001 season.

The Gators are averaging 1.57 goals a game while giving up 0.71 goals a game.  Sierra Sagasta leads the team with her four goals and 11 points.  She is tied with Natasha Gosiaco each with two game-winning goals.  Autumn Fox leads the team with her four assists.  Christina Holguin has posted a 0.20 goals against average with 15 saves and four shutouts in goal for San Francisco State in five matches this season. 

In the recent CCAA statistics report that was released this morning, the Gators are second in the league in total assists and are third in points per game, scoring offense, shutout percentage and total goals.  Fox leads the league with her four assists and 0.67 assists/game average. Holguin is second in saves percentage (0.938) while Sagasta and Gosiaco are tied for second with their two game-winning goals.  Sagasta is also third in goals per game (0.57).

Cal Poly Pomona will be the Gators' first opponent this weekend as the two teams will face each other this Friday, September 23 at 7pm in Pomona.  The Broncos are 2-3-1 overall and 1-1 in the CCAA after splitting its two matches on the road last weekend losing 2-0 at Sonoma State and defeating Humboldt State 2-1.  Five Broncos have scored at least one goal this season with Hannah Havelind leading the way with her two assists.  Ricki Ives has posted a 1.41 goals against average with one shutout and 29 saves in goal for the Broncos.

San Francisco State will travel to San Bernardino after its match with Cal Poly Pomona for a 2pm starting conference match this Sunday at Cal State San Bernardino.  The Coyotes are 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the CCAA after they went 0-2 this past weekend (2-0 loss at Sonoma State and 3-2 loss at Humboldt State).  Rachael Figg leads the way for the Coyotes with her two goals while five players have recorded at least one assist.  Megan Vine and Emily Whyte each have shared time in goal for the Coyotes.  Vine has a 2.00 goals against average with 17 saves and Whyte has a 1.67 goals against average with 12 saves. 

After this weekend, the Gators will finish off their five-match road trip on September 30 and October 2 for two more CCAA matches at Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State L.A.  The Gators will return home on October 7 at 12:30pm, when they host the nationally ranked UC San Diego Tritons.
