WXC | Trio earns All-Conference honors at CCAA Championships

CERES, Calif. — For the first time in recent memory, the San Francisco State women's cross country team placed three runners in the Top 15 and raced to a fifth-place finish as a team on Saturday at the 2017 CCAA Championships.

"I'm super proud of these girls! They stepped up and ran the best race of their lives," said San Francisco State Head Coch Kendra Reimer. "The race went out really fast and our team went straight to the front. They fought the entire time from beginning to the end."
 
The top six Gators served up personal best marks in the 6k, and as a team finished with with 130 points and a total time of 1:50:49.30, an average of 22.09.86. That set a new program mark in the CCAA Championships, eclipsing the average time of 22:26.3 set by the Gators in 2011. The total points was the Gators' second-most in the last 10 years.

SF State was led by a trio of All-Conference seniors who ran a sub 22-minute time, both program firsts. Camile Hansen led the Gators with her eighth-place finish with a time of 21:32.0 (6:59.37). Adriana Calva repeated last year's All-Conference performance with another 10th-place finish and a time of 21:37.8 (7:17.35). Magali Arsiniega crossed the finish line in 12th place with her time of 21:39.5 (7:15.58).

Senior Jordan Linsky finished in 50th place (22:48.8, 7:44.40). Junior Fabiola Naranjo crossed the finish line with a time of 23:11.2 (7:47.43), good for 63rd. Freshman Lauren Herrington and sophomore Pearl Shoemaker finished in 70th and 71st, respectively, with times of 23:36.1 (8:18.40) and 23:39.9 (8:08.21).

The conference's three nationally ranked teams finished accordingly. No. 6 Chico State topped all teams with an average time of 21:21.62, followed by No. 12 Cal State San Marcos (21:41.48), and No. 20 Cal Poly Pomona (21:56.86). Chico State's Hannah Dorman led the field of 112 with a time of 20.50.156, an average time of 6:53.56.
