SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco State track and field team had a monster weekend at the friendly confines of Cox Stadium.  Hosting the annual San Francisco State Distance Carnival, the Gators recorded five provisional marks, two new school records, and three new meet records.
 
Distance runner Adriana Calva kicked off the record breaking weekend Friday afternoon, smashing her own record in the 3000m steeplechase.  Calva finished second in her heat, and eighth overall with a NCAA provisional mark time of 10:39.06.  Calva's time is 18 seconds faster than her own school record set last season. 
 
The sprinters took over on Saturday.  In the 100m dash Atiya Harvey ran a blazing fast preliminary time of 11.87 seconds, the second fastest time in school history.  Janelle Bandayrel had a big day for the Gators. She took first in the finals of the 100m dash with a season-best time of 12.04 seconds.  Vanessa Koontz finished fifth in the 100 with a season-best time of 12.41 seconds.  In the 200, Bandayrel finished second with a time of 25.10, a season-best time. 
 
Later in the meet, Bandayrel, Koontz, Harvey, and Timarya Baynard combined to run the fastest 4x100 relay in school history.  The quartet clocked in with a time of 45.94, a new meet record. Besting the previous meet record of 46.56 by Alaska Anchorage in 2014.  The Gators improved their provisional mark and is currently the second fastest time in the country.
 
Baynard wrapped up her day setting a new meet record and school record in the 400m dash.  She clocked in with a time of 54.60, breaking the old meet record of 56.22 set by Tiana Thomas from the College of Idaho at last year's meet. 
 
Courtney Massengale set the Gator's final meet record.  Her record coming in the discus.  Her throw of 45.85, is a provisional mark and the second best throw in school history.  Her new record breaks Hawaii's Charlinda Ioane's 2014 throw of 45.44 meters. 
 
Also having a stellar day in the throws was senior Alex Jones.  Jones took first in the shot put with a provisional mark of 13.54 meters.  She also placed third in the hammer with a throw of 48.77 meters. 
 
The Gators turned out a solid performance in the 800m as well.  The trio of Myha Castro, Camille Hansen, and Bianca Bryant all finished with season-highs.  Castro took 18^th overall with a time of 2:16.13.  Hansen set a new personal-best with a time of 2:16.26 for 20^th, followed by Bryant who finished 25^th with a time of 2:17.94. 
 
Devanique Brown and Jayden Dalton had fast races in the 100m hurdles.  Brown finished 19^th overall with a time of 16.16.  Dalton was 20^th with a time of 16.19. 
 
Jordan Guerrero posted two season-highs in the jumps.  She placed second in the long jump with a career-best leap of 5.54 meters, she followed that up taking third in the triple with a season-high jump of 11.53 meters.  Angel Hill finished ninth in the long jump with leap of 5.16 meters and fifth in the triple with a mark of 10.96 meters. 
 
The Gators will return to action Wednesday April 12 when they travel south to participate in the Azusa Pacific Heptathlon.
