SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The San Francisco State volleyball team fought on Friday but fell to No. 5 Cal State San Bernardino in straight sets by a score of 25-14, 25-13, 25-19.

- Olivia Tabron led the way with eight kills and a .304 hitting percentage while also adding four blocks. Drew Morris had six kills. Payton Jensen poured in 23 assists and eight digs, and Vanessa Ditz had 12 digs and one service ace.Â
- The Golden Gators (10-10/5-8 CCAA) held a 7-4 block advantage including a 12-6 lead in block assists.
- SF State hit just .135 on the night, which is the third-straight match they've recorded a sub-.200 attack percentage.
- Cal State San Bernardino (19-2/12-1 CCAA), who ranks tenth in the nation in hitting percentage, hit .286 which is the third-highest mark allowed by the Gators this season.
Morris' first kill of the night, which came off an assist by Jensen and ricocheted off the Coyote block ended a 6-0 San Bernardino run to start the contest. A Jessica Haynie swing that went to the corner, coupled with a pair of Coyote attack errors narrowed the deficit, 9-7. The hosts pushed their lead to seven at 15-8 as part of a 5-0 run before Tabron recorded her first point of the night, ending the streak. Tabron and Jensen teamed up for a big block down the stretch, and Morris added another kill as SF State added to the scoreboard. However the Coyotes got three-straight points including a pair of swings by the CCAA kills leader Alexis Cardoza for the 25-14 set one win.Â
Haynie tied things up 1-1 to open up set two as she dropped in a kill towards the near sideline. The sophomore answered again with another swing that ended a 4-0 streak by San Bernardino. A block by Tabron and Marlena Billings cut the Coyote lead to four, but the hosts once again continued to toll as they went back up by seven, 13-6. Jensen dished to Tabron for consecutive Gator kills to cut into the lead. Bailey Johnson and Morris both notched kills to keep the Gators alive, but once again the Coyotes closed out the set with three-straight kills for the 25-13 win.Â
Swings by Haynie and Tabron opened up the third set as SF State saw its first lead of the night. San Bernardino answered with five straight before Tabron responded again with consecutive swings that cut it to one. Ditz's service ace tied things up at 7-all, and, following three-straight by the hosts, SF State got a kill by Ashley Cosey that narrowed the deficit to a pair. San Bernardino went back up by five at 16-11. Following a timeout, Tabron dropped in consecutive swings from the net and later on the Purple and Gold got swings by Morris and Johnson, which both came from Jensen as the Coyote lead was held to just four. Another three-point run at the end of the set gave the Coyotes match point, and Hailey Jackson's 11th kill of the evening closed out the three-set victory, 25-19.Â
SF State wraps up the road trip tomorrow as they take on #19 Cal Poly Pomona. Match time is at 7 p.m., and a live stream will be provided.
