Morris and Payton Jensen went back-to-back kills to bring the Gators (6-3/1-1 CCAA) to one at 5-4. Another Morris swing that bounced off the Los Angeles blockers and out tied things up 9-9. Maura Donovan's ace narrowed the contest to 15-14, however the Golden Eagles continued to fend off the Gators with a pair of kills by Daisy Portillo and an ace by Karla Santos as the visitors reached 20 points. SF State struggled in that first set hitting just .171 while Los Angeles notched a .395 hitting mark as they notched the 25-19 victory in the first frame.Â
Consecutive Golden Eagle service aces began the second set. The visitors continued to roll to a 10-3 advantage. Following a timeout, SF State pulled within three as Billings and Hayne recorded kills and Ditz dropped in a service ace to make it 11-8 as part of a 5-0 run by the hosts. Tabron notched her third kill of the night which narrowed the setback to 15-13, but Los Angeles continued their sound play to end the set on a 9-3 run as they took set two by a score of 25-18.
Billings and Tabron came up with a huge block at the net and Billings followed with another big play as she spiked it at the feet of the defenders for the 2-0 lead. The Gators quickly pushed the lead to 6-0 which was capped off by another block by Billings and Tabron. Morris' swing by the sideline put the Purple and Gold up 8-2, but the Golden Eagles bounced back with four-straight points and later tied it up at 11-all before a kill by Mickayla Sherman regained the visitor advantage. Los Angeles then went on a 9-1 run to take a 21-12 lead, and later closed out the match on another Portillo point.
