LEXINGTON, Ky. — San Francisco State volleyball players Bailey Johnson and Trinity Barr have been named to the 2019 AVCA All-West Region Team. Johnson garnered an honorable mention while Barr was named the West Region Freshman of the Year.
SF State finished with a 16-11 mark, including an 8-2 start. The Gators reached the CCAA Tournament for back-to-back seasons but fell in a five-set match to No. 25 Cal State LA.
Johnson had a standout senior campaign, ranking fifth in the CCAA and 32nd nationally with a .360 hitting percentage, which is currently the second-best hitting mark in program history. The senior finished with a career-best 267 kills. The All-CCAA First Team selection ranks second in career hitting percentage in SF State history.
Barr made an instant impact for SF State in her first collegiate season, hitting .313 on the year, which was also ninth-best in the conference. Earlier this year, Barr hit .741 with 21 kills in a match, which is the fourth-best hitting mark in a contest for a Gator since 2003. The All-CCAA Second Team selection tallied 254 kills, the most by a Gator freshman since 2012.
