How They Scored

  • The Gators scored first on a bases-loaded walk to Antone Self but the next two batters were retired, leaving the bases loaded.
  • Jonathan Liu gave the Red Hawks the lead in the third with a two-run single down the left field line. The ball hit off of Cleary's glove as he dove into foul territory. Head Coach Tony Schifano came out to argue that the ball was foul but the call stood.
  • Simpson added to the lead in the fourth. A four-pitch leadoff walk to Michael Driscoll proved costly. He stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on Damien Chavez's groundout
  • With two out and two on out in the bottom of the fourth, the Gators shifted the momentum back to their corner for good. Jackson Kritsch singled home a run and later tied the game on a wild pitch. Harley Lopez walked on four straight pitches, then Brady Dorn regained the lead with a double to right center. Clearly followed with an RBI single up the middle, then Trevor Rogers drove home Cleary with a double down the right field line. Jack Harris capped off the seven-run rally with an RBI single to center.
  • The Red Hawks took advantage of another leadoff walk in the ninth. Derick Kuhn worked a full count to draw the walk, then stole second. With the bases loaded, a dropped ball at first allowed Kuhn to score from third.
