SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco State volleyball wrapped up its most recent homestand with a perfect 5-0 record after sweeping Humboldt State 3-0. The Gators picked up set wins of 25-10, 25-12 and 25-16.
- Jessica Haynie led the Gators with 10 kills to go along with three aces and a block.
- Stevie Shaughnessey saw action in her first ever match and recorded a kill and two blocks
- The Gators held the Lumber Jacks to a -.037 hitting percentage while finishing with a .397 percentage of their own.
- SF State had another strong day in front of the net and finished with 11 total blocks.
- The Gators improve to 18-3 and 12-3 in the CCAA while Humboldt falls to 3-14 and 2-12 in the CCAA.
Haynie registered back-to-back kills to open a 4-0 run in set one. The Lumberjacks came within three only for the Gators to take a commanding lead and put the set far from reach. Humboldt had several unforced errors including six attack errors and three serving aces.
Five different Gators recorded a kill as they took an early 11-3 lead. The defense limited Humboldt to a set low three kills. Shaughnessey landed back-to-back blocks before landing the set winning kill.
With a 3-2 lead, the Gators used a 5-1 scoring run to build a cushion on their advantage and force a timeout by the Lumberjacks. Coming out of the timeout, Humboldt was able to keep the deficit to four until a kill from Haynie sparked a 3-0 run that gave the Gators a 14-7 lead. The Gators had a set high five blocks with Izzy Issak having a hand in three of them.
