POMONA, Calif. – The San Francisco State volleyball team fell to the No. 22 Cal Poly Pomona 3-1 at Kellogg Arena. After dropping set one 25-12, the Gators picked up a 29-27 set two win. They dropped the next two sets 25-22 and 25-19.
- The Gators fall to 12-2 and 5-2 in the CCAA. The Broncos improve to 13-1 and 6-1 in the CCAA.
- The 29 points in set two were the most the Gators have scored in a set this season.
- Izzy Issak had a match high 17 kills. Jessica Haynie recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 14 digs.
- The Broncos played strong in front of the net and had 12 blocks compared to the Gator's four.
- Kimberley DeBoer finished with 29 assists while Payton Jensen had 16.
The Bronco's started with a big lead and never looked back. Cal Poly Pomona hit four service aces in the first set alone.
Jessica Haynie sparked a 3-0 run to open the second set. The Broncos came back to tie the set a couple of times until they took their first lead. Down 17-12 coming out of a timeout, the Gators clawed their way back and hit four kills to come with one of the Broncos at 18-17. With the set tied at 27 apiece, Izzy Issak delivered back-to-back kills to take the second set.
With the set tied at 9-9, the Broncos used a 7-0 scoring run to put themselves comfortably in front. The Gators would come within two, but the Broncos held the advantage the rest of the way.
The Broncos opened up the fourth set with a 7-2 scoring run and held a lead the entirety of the set. The Gators had nine attack errors, the most of any set of the evening.
