- The Gators improve to 21-4 and 14-4 in the CCAA while Cal State East Bay falls to 8-18 and 3-15 in the CCAA.
In a tight set one, the Pioneers took a 23-20 lead thanks in part to a pair of kills in a 4-0 scoring run. A kill from Haynie broke up the scoring run but Cal State East Bay responded with two more kills to end the set. The Gator's six service errors in the set gave the Pioneers the edge in the set.
The Gators came out swinging in the second set and limited their attack errors to one and did not have a single service error. SF State started to build its lead when Trinity Yates and Trinity Barr landed back-to-back kills and Kimberly DeBoer landed a service ace to give the Gators a 9-5 lead. The Gators did not take their foot off the gas and only extended their lead from there.
Down 4-3, Issy Izaak landed back-to-back kills to give the Gators the lead. After an ace from Gillespie and a block from Issak and Yates put the Gators up 9-5, East Bay called a timeout. The Gators' lead only grew from there as they held the Pioneers to a .026 hitting percentage in the set.
East Bay took a 12-6 lead before the Gators called a timeout. The Gators crawled their way back in the set to tie it at 17 all. A big kill from Izzy Issak gave the Gators the lead at 19-18. The Pioneers tied the set at 25 all only for that tie to be erased by a service error and an attack error on the following rally.
