VB | Gators Pick Up Rebound Win Over the Toros

DOMINGUEZ HILLS, Calif. – The San Francisco State volleyball team bounced back from a loss to take down Cal State Dominguez Hills 3-0 with set wins of 25-22, 25-10 and 25-19.

  • Jessica Haynie lead the Gators again with 13 kills. Trinity Barr also finished with double-digits at 10.
  • Payton Jensen had a set high four service aces. Her 114 career service aces puts her in fifth all-time.
  • Cal State Dominguez Hills had nine reception errors and 17 attack errors.
  • The Gators improve to 19-4 and 13-4 in the CCAA while Cal State Dominguez falls to 1-20 and 2-13 in the CCAA.

Set One

The Gators and the Toros played a tight set early on with neither team able to grab more than a two-point lead. SF State finally got some distance from Dominguez Hills when Haynie and Barr landed kills to give the Gators a 12-9 lead, but the Toros tied the set up again at 15-15. The Gators finally pulled away as Cynthia Beall served an ace and Kimberly DeBoer landed a kill.

Set Two

SF State started set two on fire and took a 6-1 lead before the Toros called a timeout. Coming out of the timeout, Haynie added a kill and Payton Jensen landed back-to-back service aces before the Toros were finally able to get their second point of the set. Gators had command of the set the rest of the way.

Set Three

The Toros took their biggest lead of the evening at 13-10, forcing SF State to call a timeout. The Gators took advantage of a couple of errors by the Toros to come back and take the lead. The Toros tied it up a few more times before the Gators used a 6-2 run to close out the set.

SF State will play its final two home matches next weekend. They will play Cal State San Marcos on Friday, November 12.
