SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State men's cross country team competed in its first race in almost two years when the Gators raced in front of family and friends at the SF State Invitational held at Golden Gate Park. The team finished in fifth place in their first outing of the season, beating out Division I schools Santa Clara and Saint Mary's. Chico State took the top spot at the Invite.
Senior
Jacob Niles cracked the top 25 and finished in 23rd with a time of 25:46.2. Fellow senior
Kevin Lehr was the second Gator to finish and placed 38th with a time of 26:09.9. Freshman
Ben Heagler and Sophomore
Jose Torres finished back-to-back in 44th and 45th. Heagler's time of 26:21.9 was exactly one second faster than Torres'.
Evan Jackson just missed out on making the top 50 and finished in 51st with a time of 26:32.6.
The team honored seniors Kevin Lehr, Jacob Niles, Michael Kilgariff, Lucas Vigil and Alex Tait after the meet.
