How It Happened

Back-to-back kills from Velasquez highlighted a 5-0 run in the first set to reclaim the lead and put the Gators up 17-13. The Cougars would come within one point of the Gators' lead, but a kill from Josie Collier put the set at set point and Brianna DeBoer ended the set with an ace.

After starting set two behind, the Gators landed four kills during a 5-0 run to take their first lead of the set at 6-4. The Gators started to pull away for good near the end of the set, as Collier landed kills for the 23rd and 24th points and Velasquez landed one for the final point of the set.

It was all Gators to open the final set. SF State used a 6-0 run to open the set and led by as many as eight points throughout the set.

The Cougars would make it interesting at the end and came back within four at set point for the Gators. San Marcos' landed a service error to give the Gators the final point of the match.
